シンハラ語、タミル語版と同時に出版された日本語版は早くも初版が売り切れになってしまい、現在増刷中とのこと。

ジェスナの準会員でもある画家の長繩えい子さんのご協力により、スマトラ沖地震による津波と象の特殊な能力をテーマにした絵本が完成しました。
2004年末の地震による津波の被害を受けたスリランカでは、地震がないために津波というものを知らない人が多く、子供たちに分かりやすく津波のことを伝え続けたいとの気持ちから絵本製作が実現しました。

スマトラ沖地震のあったすぐあと、
日本から幼児教育専門家の皆さんがスリランカを訪問し、プレーマダーサ・ヘーゴダ基金運営のシッダールタ幼稚園（3ヶ所）で子供達、先生方に対し、デモンストレーションを行いました。

3月27日（日）に千葉県柏市での津波支援のためのチャリティショーが無事に終わりました。
当日は、たくさんのお客様がお越しになり、ほぼ満席の状態で柏マジッククラブ様によるマジックショーとインド音楽を楽しんでいただきました。

＊An appeal for aid to the child victims of the tsunami in Sri Lanka＊
On December 26th 2004 earthquakes off the coast of Sumatra Island caused a tsunami, which in turn resulted in massive damage to the southeastern part of Sri Lanka and the deaths of over 30,000people.
Just prior to this we were planning to visit Sri Lanka with several experts on infant education as part of our educational activities, but we faced strong objections from our families, friends and acquaintances, who were watching the new reports that were emerging at that time.
However, we visited Sri Lanka on the 10th of January and stayed there for a week, to witness the situation first hand and to take part in the activities that we had previously planned, which people there had been looking forward to.
On the side of roads along the coast boats were washed up, and offshore capsized ships were left half sunk, some people had no choice but to seek refuge wherever they could, while others could not leave their destroyed houses and remained there in dire circumstances. There were countless children wandering about after they lost their parents.
For those victims, aid in the form of daily necessities were sent from many countries of the world. Neighboring India, also suffering from tsunami damage, took the lead in offering help and was soon followed by Japan and other countries.
Children from many countries around the world also raised money by standing on streets and asking passersby for contributions. While a catastrophe of this scope is a terrible tragedy, it is also true that the compassion of people around the world is cause for hope. We would like to help children who lost their parents in this disaster, by giving them the chance to receive an education until they graduate from high school via NPO JECNA (Japan Center for Education, Culture, wildlife and Nature conservation in Asia)
We sincerely hope you will give a helping hand to those children, whose future hangs in the balance. We also hope and ask you to let your friends and families know about this initiative.
Donations raised from your cooperation will definitely be sent to the victims by NPO JECNA through the Premadasa Hegoda Foundation which is authorized by the government of Sri Lanka.

We would like to offer our thanks to those of you who have already offered your heart felt support to an appeal for financial aid of children who are the victims of the tsunami in Sri Lanka.
The Tsunami Educational Support Project was started primarily, to make full use of the generous donations we have received, with the children’s education as its end goal.
We would like to be in a position to be able to offer scholarships to children, who have lost their houses or their families. We would like to be able to offer them this support until they finish high school, otherwise they may have no alternative but to leave school.
By setting up a fund from your donation and spending the interest generated by the fund, your donation in effect will be permanent.
At present the interest rate in Sri Lanka is 8% , which is high enough for the fund to manage itself on its interest alone.
Initially, our objective is to raise ￥150,000,000 to set up a scholarship found for 100 children. In order to encourage the active participation of as many donors as possible we have made it possible to set up a fund on which you, as a donor, can put whatever name you would like to in recognition of your donation.
We will accept applications from individuals, companies, groups of friends and so on and let them put the fund in whatever name(s) they prefer, ( i. e: Mr./Mrs. /Miss ~fund, ~School Class ~ Fund etc.) and from this we would subsidize the scholarship.（￥150,000~） Information about the scholarship is readily accessible, and by making additional contributions to your existing fund you can also increase the number of students who will be eligible for a scholarship.
For example if you set up a fund of:
￥1,500,000→the interest generated will enable 10 children to go to school for a year.
￥150,000→the interest generated will enable one child to go to school for a year.
The selection of candidates for the scholarship will be made fairly and impartially through administrative bodies and educational authorities, with the NGO Premadasa Hegoda Foundation playing ‘a hands on’ supervisory role.

平素よりNPOジェスナの活動にご理解とあたたかいご支援を賜り、心からお礼を申し上げます。
NPOジェスナではスマトラ島沖地震よる津波の被災者支援を行うことにいたしました。
★スリランカ津波被害の子供たちへ支援のお願い★
2004年12月26日、スマトラ島沖地震が起きました。
そのため、津波による大きな被害がスリランカ南東部を襲い3万人以上の犠牲者が出ました。
以前からスリランカでの教育活動の一環として
幼児教育の専門家数名とスリランカを訪れる予定になっていましたが、
マスコミの報道を見た家族・友人・知人らから強い反対を受けました。
しかし、時間をかけて準備し、現地の方も楽しみにしているイベントに参加するため、
また現地の様子を少しでも見ることが出来ればとの気持ちで
1月10日から1週間スリランカを訪れました。
海浜沿いの道路わきには、船が津波で押し上げられ
沖には転覆した船が、沈みかけた状態で放置されていました。
避難生活を強いられている人々もいれば、
崩壊してしまった家から離れることも出来ずに、不自由な生活を続けている人々もいます。
親を失い、路頭に迷う子供らも数え切れないほどいるのです。
そんな被災者のために、世界各国からの援助物資が送られてきました。
隣国インドでは、スリランカと同じように被災したにもかかわらず
率先して支援を申し出てくれ、それに続くように日本を始め、
各国からの援助が始まりました。
世界中の多くの国々の子供たちも、街頭に立ち募金を始めています。
このような被害が起きたことは、非常に悲しい出来事ですが、
このことで、世界中の人々の優しさを知ることが出来たことも事実です。
今回の津波被害により、親を失った子供たちにも教育を受ける機会を与えようと
NPOジェスナ（アジア教育・文化・自然環境保護日本支援センター）を通じて、
高校を卒業するまでの手助けが出来ればと思っています。
子供たちの未来に、あなたのお力を貸していただけることを心から願っています。
将来のある子供たちに、ぜひとも援助の手を差し伸べていただけますようよろしくお願いいたします。また皆さんのご家族・お友達にもお知らせしていただければと思います。

スリランカ津波被害の子供たちへの支援の呼びかけに対し、早くも皆様からの温かいご支援が集まり始めています。
私たちは子供たちへの教育支援を第一に考えて、皆様からお預かりした支援金を最大限有効に活用するために「津波教育支援プロジェクト」を発足いたしました。
津波により家や家族を失った子供たちが学校へ行くことをあきらめることなく、高校を卒業するまで奨学金の支給を行いたいと考えております。
お預かりした支援金を基金としてその利息を奨学金に充てることにより、支援金が子供たちを育てるために永遠に生きることになります。現在のスリランカの金利は年8％と高利率ですので、利息で運営していくことが可能です。
まず、最初の目標として1500万円の支援金を募り、100人の子供たちへの奨学金基金としたいと考えています。
また、より積極的に支援していただけるように支援者の名前を付けたファンド（基金）も作ることが出来るようにしています（15万円～）。

NPOジェスナではスマトラ島沖地震よる津波の被災者支援を行うことにいたしました。
★スリランカ津波被害の子供たちへ支援のお願い★
2004年12月26日、スマトラ島沖地震が起きました。
そのため、津波による大きな被害がスリランカ南東部を襲い3万人以上の犠牲者が出ました。
以前からスリランカでの教育活動の一環として
幼児教育の専門家数名とスリランカを訪れる予定になっていましたが、
マスコミの報道を見た家族・友人・知人らから強い反対を受けました。
しかし、時間をかけて準備し、現地の方も楽しみにしているイベントに参加するため、
また現地の様子を少しでも見ることが出来ればとの気持ちで
1月10日から1週間スリランカを訪れました。
海浜沿いの道路わきには、船が津波で押し上げられ沖には転覆した船が、沈みかけた状態で放置されていました。
避難生活を強いられている人々もいれば、
崩壊してしまった家から離れることも出来ずに、不自由な生活を続けている人々もいます。
親を失い、路頭に迷う子供らも数え切れないほどいるのです。
そんな被災者のために、世界各国からの援助物資が送られてきました。
隣国インドでは、スリランカと同じように被災したにもかかわらず
率先して支援を申し出てくれ、それに続くように日本を始め、
各国からの援助が始まりました。
世界中の多くの国々の子供たちも、街頭に立ち募金を始めています。このような被害が起きたことは、非常に悲しい出来事ですが、
このことで、世界中の人々の優しさを知ることが出来たことも事実です。
今回の津波被害により、親を失った子供たちにも教育を受ける機会を与えようと
NPOジェスナ（アジア教育・文化・自然環境保護日本支援センター）を通じて、
高校を卒業するまでの手助けが出来ればと思っています。
子供たちの未来に、あなたのお力を貸していただけることを心から願っています。

スリランカ津波被害の子供たちへの支援の呼びかけに対し、早くも皆様からの温かいご支援が集まり始めています。
私たちは子供たちへの教育支援を第一に考えて、皆様からお預かりした支援金を最大限有効に活用するために「津波教育支援プロジェクト」を発足いたしました。
津波により家や家族を失った子供たちが学校へ行くことをあきらめることなく、高校を卒業するまで奨学金の支給を行いたいと考えております。
お預かりした支援金を基金としてその利息を奨学金に充てることにより、支援金が子供たちを育てるために永遠に生きることになります。現在のスリランカの金利は年8％と高利率ですので、利息で運営していくことが可能です。
まず、最初の目標として1500万円の支援金を募り、100人の子供たちへの奨学金基金としたいと考えています。
また、より積極的に支援していただけるように支援者の名前を付けたファンド（基金）も作ることが出来るようにしています（15万円～）。
